Real-time nutrition analysis
while you shop
Tesco online.
A Chrome extension that gives you real-time nutrition insights while you shop.

Built with early Tesco shoppers in the UK
Healthy shopping shouldn't
feel confusing.
Food labels are overwhelming. Marketing can be misleading—and sticking to your goals shouldn’t require researching every ingredient in your trolley.
64% of products marketed as “healthy” would be banned from TV advertising under the government’s own nutritional standards.

For low-carb or keto shoppers
Hidden sugars, starches, and sweeteners add up fast — even in products marketed as “healthy.”
For glucose management
Refined carbs and added sugars can derail your targets — and none of it is obvious from the front of the pack.
For muscle gain or high-protein diets
Not all “high protein” products are equal. Some hide added sugars, fillers, or excess calories that undermine your targets.
For whole-food or low-UPF eaters
Even “natural” products can contain emulsifiers and ultra-processed ingredients that don’t match your standards.
For shoppers balancing multiple goals
Reducing sugar, avoiding ultra-processed foods, managing allergens and hitting macro targets—most products only solve one of these.
Most products tick one box. Very few tick them all.
Three steps to smarter shopping
SpikeSaver works quietly in the background while you shop on Tesco.com. No app switching, no barcode scanning.

Set your goals
Low carb, glucose, UPF, allergens — your priorities.

Shop as normal
SpikeSaver runs automatically on Tesco.com.

See what matches
Clear insights. Not just a score — the reasoning.
On Your Terms.
Most nutrition tools use fixed rules and generic scoring. They decide what’s “good” or “bad” — whether it fits your goals or not.
SpikeSaver works differently.
It adapts to your priorities — low carb, glucose control, ultra-processed avoidance, protein targets — and shows you exactly why a product matches (or doesn’t).
Your goals aren’t generic.
Your nutrition tool shouldn’t be either.
Health decisions should happen before checkout — not after.
Analyse your food, instantly.
From hidden sugar detection to NOVA classification — use our free tools to see what's really in your food.
I built SpikeSaver after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
At first, I had no idea what I could actually eat. I’d sit there copying and pasting ingredients lists into Google, trying to figure out what half of them even meant — and whether they were safe for me.
Through diet and lifestyle changes, I put my type 2 diabetes into remission.
Most apps felt opinionated. They used fixed rules that didn’t match what I was trying to achieve. And when I shopped online, they were useless.
So I built SpikeSaver — so no one has to second-guess every item in their basket the way I did.

Questions? We've got answers.
Not yet. SpikeSaver is a Chrome desktop extension. For now, it works best on laptop or desktop while shopping on Tesco.com. Mobile support is something we’re exploring for the future.
SpikeSaver will launch with a simple monthly subscription (around £4 per month).
We’re building a focused, independent product — not one funded by ads or data sales. Your subscription supports continued development, new store integrations, and advanced features over time.
We’re launching with Tesco first to get the experience right. Other UK supermarkets are on the roadmap — waitlist members will hear about expansions first.
Currently, SpikeSaver runs locally in your browser. Product analysis and shopping activity are not sent to our servers.
If you join the waitlist, we store your email address. Within the extension, we store your selected health goals and settings so the tool works as expected.
In the future, we may introduce optional features that allow syncing across devices — but you’ll always be in control of what’s shared.
Full details are available in our Privacy Policy.
